This magnificent luxury villa is situated on an exclusive private estate and is a 5-bedroom peaceful retreat, comprised of nine separate buildings, with sleeping accommodation for up to fifteen persons plus. Situated on the Bukit Peninsula, fifty metres above sea level on the cliffs that overhang Bingin beach, the property commands heart-stopping, spectacular views of the ocean and the southern regions of Bali.

‘Bukit’ is the Indonesian word for hill and the panorama from this elevation extends all the way up the west coast past Jimbaran, the airport, Kuta and Canggu, and inland to Bedugul. On a clear day, the awesome vista takes in all of the volcanoes from Mt Agung in the east, to Mt Bromo in Java. It is in this area that a number of the more affluent members of the surfing fraternity have chosen to build their homes, ensuring that early each morning a quick glance from the bedroom window will ascertain the best waves and the destination of the day. This beautiful stretch of coast boasts some of the most idyllic beaches in Bali, hidden white sandy coves that are great for both surfers and non-surfers alike.

The property was designed by acclaimed architect Glenn Parker, and the gardens created by the famous landscape architect Made Wijaya. Complemented by flat green lawns, courtyards, terraces and a serene water garden, and lovingly furnished by its Jakarta-based owners, the villa is composed of a series of pavilions, including the main residence, two guest pavilions, dining pavilion, family pavilion, Wantilan Lounge and Bale Bundar, most of which have adjoining verandahs or terraces. This style is based on the concept of the traditional Balinese family compound with a separate building or ‘balé’ for each function, and a licence to amend the purpose of each in accordance with the comforts of modern living. The estate also boasts a fitness centre, a children’s playground, two swimming pools and a large tennis court.

The formal Balinese architecture makes use of local materials, such as white Palimanan stone, teak wood and limestone, together with alang alang grass for the thatched roofs. The pavilions surrounding the main residence are modelled on the conventional Balinese ‘Wantilan’(village meeting place), but the self-contained guest area, comprising the Bale Bundar and two rotunda gazebo bedrooms with thatched conical roofs, has an African influence.

The layout of the property utilizes and divides space, maximising the cliff top frontage. A group of fifteen people could stay at the villa and still lose each other in its depths. The staff quarters, laundry, and the fully equipped kitchen are located at the back, leaving every room to enjoy the wonderful ocean view. Approached via a 600-metre cobbled pathway, visitors are greeted by a pair of antique doors set within a traditional Balinese gateway constructed of limestone and Bengkirai (Ironwood). Stepping stones wend through a beautiful water court; a lotus pond ablaze with pink and white blossoms. Tiny islands support sweet-scented frangipani trees punctuated by the distinctive pattern of lily pads; while gentle ripples originate from a soothing fountain beside clusters of noble bulrushes.

Ecologically friendly and ever vigilant about preserving water consumption in this dry region of Bali, the estate employs a cost effective, natural treatment system. Waste water from the showers and wash basins is collected, broken down, processed and recycled for use in the garden.The estate is completed with recreation facilities, which include a glass encompassed, self contained home-gym fully equipped with treadmills, a rowing machine and much more. An exciting children’s playground lies to one side, and the floodlit tennis court is situated near the main entrance to the property.

This Villa is the perfect venue for parties and weddings. A full-service kitchen means that the staff have the facilities to cater for large, lavish functions. Guests can spill out into the numerous terraced areas and the smooth lawns, which are also perfect for barbeques and dance performances.

Guests who stay at this sumptuous destination villa have no need to leave the environs. Nevertheless, the Bukit Peninsula is within easy reach of all the main tourist attractions of the island and a car and driver is available.

A full time house manager

Overseas and co-ordinates the staff and property and is available to assistguests during their stay.

Cooks

Trained in the preparation of both local and international cuisine. A menu is provided and the cook will do all the market shopping.

Maids

Responsible for housekeeping duties, taking care of daily laundry and providingwaitress service around the grounds and buildings of the property.

Security Guards

Duties are to patrol the grounds and guard the entrance of the villa from duskto dawn ensuring the security of the guests.

Gardeners

Tending the garden and the grounds of the villa, and cleaning and maintainingthe swimming pools
